A VERY WET SPRING!

It has been a very wet spring here in the East Bay Area.  The photo below was taken by club member Jeff Clarkson.  He happened to capture this maple at the Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt after four days of rain.  One trick you should be using during extended periods of rain is to stick a block of wood under your bonsai pots.  Tilting the pot will allow water to drain much better from the soil and exit the pot.  It makes a very big difference!

WELCOME TO THE NEW EBBS WEBSITE

The East Bay Bonsai Society has upgraded its website so that we can more easily archive monthly newsletters and share photos of events.  Additionally, the new site allows members to comment on newsletters, events, online posts, and pictures.  To participate in  discussions on the EBBS website you need to create a login username and password.  Once approved, you will be able to log into the website, read what other members have posted, and submit you own comments.  We are especially excited about this new feature as we expect to see lots on interesting discussions taking place online.

Additionally, we would like to introduce you to the EBBS Spotlight.  The Spotlight is a way for our club to recognize interesting areas within the broader bonsai community.  If you have anything that you would like to see put under the EBBS Spotlight, please let us know.
